The classic hard drive is cheaper for archiving data and offers more storage space for the same money (photo: Sir Apfelot). I've now had a few of these disks lying around for backup or offloading files, and none of them have had a problem so far. I have had very good experiences with the " WD Elements Portable". While an SSD is fast, it's also expensive, and when archiving files, transfer speed is usually secondary. You don't have to buy an SSD just to swap out data, but you can get a cheap drive that even works without an external power supply and is powered via the USB port.
